Shop History
Founded 30 years ago
By Kevin Canfield, K. Aubrey Flowers has been a beloved part of Old Town Alexandria for nearly three decades.
Originally from Mississippi, Kevin moved to the Washington, D.C. area in 1991, where he discovered his passion for floral design that led him to open K Aubrey Flowers on historic King Street, where he built a reputation for beautiful, thoughtfully crafted floral designs and exceptional service. Kevin has always believed that great floristry begins with creativity, genuine care, and putting customers first.
In November 2025
Katie Meerstein signed up for a floral design workshop with Kevin. At the time, he was quietly looking for the right person to carry K. Aubrey Flowers into its next chapter.
Somewhere between learning how to spiral stems and having a handful of conversations, he asked if she’d ever consider buying a flower shop. Long story short, she said yes.
After the sale, Kevin remained at the shop for several months, generously sharing his knowledge of the business, his approach to floral design, and the relationships that made K Aubrey Flowers such a beloved part of Old Town Alexandria.
In September 2026, the shop reopened as
Greenhouse Flora Collective
We are honoring Kevin's legacy while beginning a new chapter rooted in seasonal flowers, community, and thoughtful design.
